Primary Language Curriculum Day

We have been informed that all teachers in our school are required to attend a primary language curriculum day in Wexford Education Centre on Friday next, March 02nd. There will be no school for pupils on this day.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Grandparents Day!

Grandparents are invited in to school to meet with their grandchild/ren’s class teacher/s on Thursday next, February 08th, at 10.00am.  There will be a short Prayer Service in the school hall at 10.40am and this will be followed by refreshments for the grandparents.

Everyone will depart for home at 12.00pm – grandparents and children – as the Staff have In-school professional development from 12.30 until 3.00pm.  Children who travel to school by bus will be collected at noon, as agreed with the bus operator.

We look forward to welcoming the grandparents to Scoil Naomh Bríde!

Christmas Holidays

School will finish at 12 noon (midday) on Friday December 22nd – buses will operate, as normal, at this time.  We return to school on Monday January 8th.

Carol Service

Our annual Carol Service will take place in St. Brigid’s Church on Wednesday December 20th at 11 o’clock.  All are welcome to come and join us!

Developing Young Children’s Number Skills Talk

Donna Carolan (lecturer in Early Childhood Education at the DCU Institute of Education) will host two talks on the 16th and 30th November in Wexford Town Library at 7pm.  These talks are aimed at parents of pre-school and primary school children and will focus on developing an understanding of how young children’s everyday play , activities and experiences can support early numeracy skills in fun and meaningful ways.  They will also show how picture books can enhance children’s engagement with early mathematics.  Booking is recommended, phone 053-9196760.

Status Red Weather Warning

As Department of Education and Science has advised all schools in red status area to close, Scoil Naomh Bríde Blackwater will follow best advice and close for tomorrow Monday 15th – stay safe!

GAA COACHES

GAA football coaches will come to our school every Monday morning until the 27th October.  They will work with all children from 1st to 6th classes – please ensure that your child has runners and gum shields for these coaching sessions.

Summer holidays!!

Pupils will finish school at 11 o’clock on June 30th to allow for preparations for a complete upgrade of electrical works which will take place over the summer holidays.  We hope you and your family will have a pleasant and enjoyable Summer – school re-opens on Wednesday August 30th.  

Job-share arrangement

Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Doreen Carty will teach Senior Infants during the 2017/2018 school year.  A meeting will be held in the school on Tuesday June 13th at 8pm to explain how this will work and to answer any questions that you may have regarding this arrangement.
